This month, we’ve handed over the reigns of the Liv blog to green beauty fanatic, Amber. In her own words, she doesn’t like to preach about why natural is better, but rather write about why she loves green products in the hope that some of her wise words will rub off on you!
“Going “organic” can seem a bit daunting at first; working out how to read labels, trying to find products that don’t cost that much money and then there’s the worry…will it actually work?! But I’m going to try to convince you that choosing organic is much better for your skin, your health and even the environment. Your changes don’t have to be huge either – small changes can make huge differences.
Starting off by choosing products that you use most of the time for example body moisturisers, facial cleansers and moisturisers which are the main products we all use on a daily basis (or at least I hope you do!) One of my favourite natural multi-use products is Skin Food from Weleda. Loved by the likes of Adele and Victoria Beckham, this highly moisturising cream is jam packed with nutritional ingredients that soak your skin with goodness. It can be used on your whole body, including your face. My favourite way to use this is on hard skin on my feet; simply rub a generous amount on your heels at night, put on some organic cotton socks and when you wake up your feet will be so soft! It costs less than £10 too so it’s not going to break the bank and your skin will be moisturised all through the Winter that is on its way!
Be aware of companies putting natural ingredients into their products and then filling the rest with man-made chemicals. Ingredients like argan oil and aloe vera are wonderful so try to use products that are 100% aloe or argan oil to truly reap the benefits. Santaverde have a range of natural products that contain aloe vera as well as other nourishing ingredients such as argan, evening primrose oil, almond oil and shea butter and they’re all certified organic so you know you’re putting the best ingredients onto your skin.
Another brand favourite of mine is Nourish. They are certified by the Soil Association and have a wide range of products from toners to body moisturisers. If you’re looking to go “organic” and not sure where to start with skincare, I’d go for a cleanser over a moisturiser as it will benefit your skin much more. Nourish have different ranges depending on your skin type; Relax, Purifying, Refreshing and Detoxifying making it easy for you to choose! I’ve tried the purifying one and it’s a lovely light, cream cleanser that gets rid of all impurities, leaving your skin feeling cleansed but not stripped at all. A recent discovery of mine is their Golden Glow Shimmer Lotion which is perfect for all year round. Simply apply to your legs, shoulders & décolletage to give your skin a beautiful glow. It is filled with frankincense & myrrh so your skin will love you for it!
I hope you enjoyed my guest post here on Liv and it has encouraged you to make a Small Change for #OrganicBeautyWeek!”
